Go back eight centuries in the fortress and noble town of Medvedgrad. Join the adventure to refresh with cold spring water from the Quin well. Visit the ruins of the former hospital in Brestovac and look at Zagreb and Hrvatsko Zagorje from Sljemen, the peak of Medvednica (1035m).
Medvednica is a mountain north of Zagreb that was declared a nature park on June 16, 1981. Its highest peak, Sljeme (1035m), is a popular excursion destination. The hiking trail of Medvednica mountain is 42 km long and stretches in a northeast-southwest direction. There is a ski track on Medvednica where, since January 2005, races for the Women's World Ski Cup have started.
It would be a shame to be in the capital Zagreb and not visit Medvednica and Medvedgrad. On an area of almost 18,000 hectares, there are 70 hiking trails, 1,200 plant species, and 70 streams, which means that every visitor will find an attraction for himself. Only a few mountains and nature parks near large cities have managed to resist the area's urbanization as Medvednica has.
Suitable for those experienced in walking, those who hike at least once a month. This level would be considered easy for those who arefrequent hikers - an increase in altitude of 800 ~ 1,500 meters and a maximum distance of 15km per day.
