What are the top 5 destinations?

Indeed, my top 5 destinations might not be your top 5 destinations. Thus, this is a highly subjective list. But, if you love natural wonders, amazing landscapes, rich history, incredible flora and fauna, and good food – this list is perfect!

Tara National Park - Serbia and Bosnia

It is one of the best places to see in Western Serbia and the entire country. Tara National park deserves the first spot in the top 5 destinations! Located near the border with Bosnia-Hercegovina the captivating river Tara is the second-deepest canyon in the entire world. Also, it is the deepest canyon in Europe. Its depth reaches up to 1333 meters. It is also 149km long. The whole of Tara River Canyon is under the protection of UNESCO. It represents a natural treasure. This area is of great importance for the planet Earth. Many know this place by its nickname – A tear of Europe.

Tara National park has a height between 800-1500 m. Those heights make it a perfect location for winter sports. Besides, it is rich in plant and animal life, pleasant climate, the river Drina, and artificial lakes like Perućac and Zaovine. All that makes this place one of the most beautiful in Europe! If you come to Tara, you will see plenty of impressive viewpoints, sceneries, landscapes, and the richness of all the natural and historical beauties this area has to offer. You can even try rafting on Tara! Everyone must see Tara once in their life!

2. Stara Planina mountain - Serbia and Bulgaria

Stara Planina is a gorgeous nature reserve in two countries – Serbia and Bulgaria. Did you know that the Balkan Peninsula got its name thanks to Stara Planina or the Balkan mountains? Its greatness extends 550 kilometres across the mentioned two Balkan countries. No wonder why Stara Planina is one of the most beautiful and authentic nature reserves, perfect for romantic getaways for couples!

If you are in good fitness, climb to the highest mountain peak in Serbia – Midžor at 2,169 meters above sea level that stands on Stara Planina! This area is rich in beautiful green sceneries, lakes, viewpoints, many waterfalls, hidden trails, and perfect picnic spots. In 1997, Stara Planina became the Park of nature for its exceptional beauty. You cannot come to Serbia or Bulgaria and miss Stara Planina!

On top of that, you will find rich flora and fauna, such as Ramonda Serbica and Ramonda Nathalie. These two plants are rare in the whole world – say many botanists. This national park is a perfect blend of unspoiled nature and richness of the wildlife. You can come here and rest all your senses – hike, relax, take a boat ride, camp, try the zipline, etc. I would recommend seeing this unique place at least once in your lifetime! There is no such place like this – nowhere in the world! Plus, this area is changing – all the time! The series of small rivers, 16 lakes, and waterfalls over a few levels. Embark on a journey and explore the Croatia adventure!

Here you will encounter the natural phenomena that created those lakes and pools. It involves a lot of slow shifting and dissolving of rock. That is how the ”karst topography” was made. Besides that, this impressive region is called Dinarides. For geologists, it is heaven. Why? It is one of the most impressive karst landscapes in the world. Oh, you know what else is fascinating about this place? The first recording lake dates back even to early 1777! However, scientists believe it exists already from the ice age! It has an outstanding universal value. Glaciers formed this incredible area. Durmitor is Montenegro’s largest protected area, with around fifty peaks higher than 2,000 meters above sea level! Full of plateaus, alpine meadows, forests, and many glacial lakes, known as mountain eyes.

There are many attractions here. However, Durmitor is best known for its impressive canyons of the Draga, Sušica, Komarnica, and Tara Rivers. Come to this incredible spot on planet Earth and enjoy hiking, mountaineering, horseback riding, climbing, and canoeing.
